Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: small flathead screwdriver, replacement battery (CR2032).
  • Ensure you are in a safe and well-lit area to work on the key fob.
2. Open Key Fob
  • Use the small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob along the seam.
  • Be careful not to damage the plastic casing.
3. Replace Battery
  • Remove the old battery from the key fob, noting the orientation (positive and negative sides).
  • Insert the new battery (CR2032) in the correct orientation.
4. Reassemble Key Fob
  • Align the two halves of the key fob and press them together firmly until they snap back into place.
  • Ensure there are no gaps between the halves.
5. Re-sync Key Fob
  • Sit inside the Tesla Model Y with the newly assembled key fob.
  • Press the brake pedal, and then press the key fob against the center console (where the keyless entry reader is located) to re-sync it with the vehicle.
