Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, wheel chocks, torque wrench, socket set, brake pad replacement kit.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secured with wheel chocks before lifting. Wear safety goggles and gloves.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper mounting bolts and use the socket set to remove them.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor without stretching the brake line.
  • Support the caliper with a bungee cord or rope to avoid stress on the brake line.
4. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Compare the thickness of the new pads with the old ones to ensure proper replacement.
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to reduce noise.
  • Insert the new pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Compress the caliper piston using a brake caliper tool to allow for the new pads' thickness.
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts before lowering the vehicle.
6. Final Checks
  • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the new pads before driving.
