Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, brake pad thickness gauge, torque wrench.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool down if driven recently.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels slightly before raising the vehicle.
  • Use the jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle as needed and place jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Fully remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the brake assembly.
4. Inspect the Brake Pads
  • Measure the thickness of the brake pads using a thickness gauge.
  • Replace the brake pads if they are less than 3mm thick.
5. Replace Brake Pads (if necessary)
  • Remove the caliper bolts using the appropriate socket.
  • Carefully lift the caliper off the rotor and support it without stretching the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Install new brake pads into the bracket, ensuring proper orientation.
  • Compress the caliper piston using a brake caliper tool to fit over the new pads.
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and torque caliper bolts to manufacturer's specifications (usually around 25-30 Nm).
6. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and fully tighten the lug nuts in a criss-cross pattern to ensure even tightening.
