Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe area and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Gather necessary tools: multimeter, jumper cables or jump starter, and a socket set.
2. Check and Replace the 12V Battery
  1. Disconnect the Battery:

    • Open the front trunk (frunk) and locate the 12V battery.
    • Use a socket set to remove the negative terminal first, then the positive terminal.
  2. Inspect and Clean:

    • Check for corrosion on the battery terminals; clean with a wire brush if necessary.
    • Visually inspect the battery for any signs of damage or swelling.
  3. Test Battery Voltage:

    • Use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the 12V battery. If it’s below 12.4V, consider replacing it.
  4. Replace the Battery (if necessary):

    • If the battery is faulty, replace it with a new compatible 12V battery.
    • Reconnect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal. Torque to manufacturer's specifications.
3. Jump-start the Vehicle
  1. Connect Jumper Cables:

    • Connect the positive (red) cable to the positive terminal of the dead 12V battery and the other end to the donor battery.
    • Connect the negative (black) cable to the negative terminal of the donor battery and attach the other end to a grounded metal part of the Tesla.
  2. Start the Donor Vehicle:

    • Start the vehicle providing the jump and let it run for a few minutes.
  3. Start the Tesla:

    • Attempt to start the Tesla Model S Plaid. If successful, allow the vehicle to run to recharge the 12V battery.
