Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the vehicle from the power source by shutting down the vehicle.
2. Inspect and Test the AC Compressor
  • Tools Required: Multimeter, socket set, screwdriver set.
  • Locate the AC compressor under the hood.
  • Use a multimeter to check the voltage at the compressor clutch connector; it should read 12V when the AC is activated.
  • If no voltage is present, trace back to the relay and use the multimeter to check for continuity.
3. Replace Faulty Components
  • If the AC compressor clutch is not receiving voltage, check and replace the AC compressor relay and any blown fuses.
  • If the compressor clutch is faulty, detach the compressor from the mounting brackets using the socket set and remove the belt.
  • Install the new compressor by reversing the removal steps and ensure to torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Recharge the AC System
  • Check the refrigerant level and ensure it is within the specified range.
  • If low, connect a refrigerant gauge and recharge the system using the recommended refrigerant type for your Tesla Model S Plaid.
  • Monitor the system for leaks after recharging.
