Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, screwdriver set, pry bar, alignment tools, Tesla diagnostic tool (if applicable).
  • Disconnect the vehicle's 12V battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove the Steering Column
  • Remove the lower steering column cover by unscrewing any retaining screws.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness connected to the steering column.
  • Carefully remove the steering wheel using a steering wheel puller if necessary.
  • Unscrew the upper and lower bolts securing the steering column to the vehicle and remove it.
3. Remove the Old Steering Rack
  • Safely lift the vehicle and support it on jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels for better access to the steering components.
  • Disconnect the steering linkage from the steering rack by removing the cotter pin and nut.
  • Drain power steering fluid from the system to prevent spills.
