Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools:
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Torx screwdriver (T20)
    • New cabin air filter
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked safely and turned off.
2. Access the Cabin Air Filter Compartment
  • Open the front trunk (frunk) of the Tesla Model S.
  • Locate the cabin air filter compartment cover, which is situated under the windshield wiper area.
  • Using a flathead screwdriver, gently pry off the plastic cover clips to remove the cover.
3. Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter
  • Locate the cabin air filter housing. It should be visible once the cover is removed.
  • Unscrew the Torx screws (T20) securing the filter housing with the Torx screwdriver.
  • Carefully pull out the old cabin air filter from the housing, noting its orientation for the new filter installation.
4. Install the New Cabin Air Filter
  • Take the new cabin air filter and ensure it is oriented in the same direction as the old filter (indicated by arrows or markings).
  • Insert the new cabin air filter into the housing.
  • Reattach the filter housing by tightening the Torx screws securely.
5. Reassemble the Cabin Air Filter Compartment
  • Replace the plastic cover over the cabin air filter compartment.
  • Press the cover clips back into place until they click.
6. Final Check
  • Start the vehicle and turn on the HVAC system to check for airflow.
  • Ensure there are no unusual noises and that air is flowing freely from the vents.
