Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner for Tesla, brake fluid, brake pads, brake rotors, socket set, torque wrench
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the 12V battery for safety.
2. Inspect Brake Fluid
  • Locate the brake fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level against the minimum and maximum indicators.
  • If low, top up with the manufacturer-recommended brake fluid type.
3. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the wheel using a socket set.
  • Use a caliper tool to retract the caliper piston.
  • Remove the caliper bolts with a socket.
  • Detach the caliper and remove the old brake pads.
  • Install new brake pads ensuring they are properly seated and aligned.
  • Reattach the caliper and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 20-30 Nm).
4. Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
  • If rotors are found to be warped or excessively worn, remove the caliper and the rotor.
  • Clean the hub surface where the rotor mounts.
  • Install the new rotor and secure it with the appropriate bolts, torqued to specifications.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually 100-120 Nm).
  • Reconnect the battery and ensure all tools are removed from the workspace.
  • Start the vehicle and check the brake warning light; it should be off if repairs are successful.
