Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety.
2. Inspect and Replace Wheel Bearings (if needed)
  1. Remove the Wheel
    • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
    • Remove the lug nuts using a socket set and take off the wheel.
  2. Check Wheel Bearing
    • Grasp the wheel at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions and wiggle it to detect any play.
    • If play is present, proceed to remove the hub assembly.
  3. Remove Hub Assembly
    • Remove the brake caliper and rotor.
    • Unbolt the hub assembly using the appropriate socket.
    • Carefully pull the hub assembly off the spindle.
  4. Replace Wheel Bearing
    • Press out the old bearing using a bearing puller.
    • Press in the new bearing using a bearing press to ensure it’s seated properly.
  5. Reassemble
    • Reinstall the hub assembly onto the spindle.
    • Reattach the brake rotor and caliper.
    • Put the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
3. Inspect and Tighten Steering Components
  1. Check Steering Linkage
    • Inspect the tie rods and ball joints for wear.
    • Tighten any loose bolts or replace worn components as needed.
  2. Reassemble and Test
    • Ensure all components are properly tightened.
    • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
