Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Jumper cables
    • A compatible vehicle with a charged battery
  • Ensure both vehicles are parked close enough for the jumper cables to reach.
  • Turn off all electronic devices and lights in both vehicles to prevent battery drain.
2. Connecting Jumper Cables
  1. Identify Battery Locations:
    • On the Tesla Model 3, locate the 12V battery, which is situated beneath the front trunk (frunk).
    • Open the frunk and remove the cover to access the battery terminals.
  2. Connect Cables:
    • Connect one end of the red jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery.
    • Connect the other end of the red jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the donor vehicle’s battery.
    • Connect one end of the black jumper cable to the negative (-) terminal of the donor vehicle’s battery.
    • Connect the other end of the black jumper cable to a grounded metal point on the Tesla Model 3 (not directly to the battery).
3. Jump-Start the Vehicle
  1. Start Donor Vehicle:
    • Start the engine of the donor vehicle and let it run for a few minutes to transfer charge.
  2. Power On Tesla:
    • Attempt to power on the Tesla Model 3. If successful, the dashboard lights should illuminate.
  3. Remove Cables:
    • Carefully disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order: first the black cable from the Tesla, then the black from the donor vehicle, followed by the red cable from the donor and finally the red from the Tesla.
4. Recharging the Battery
  1. Charge the Tesla:
    • Once the vehicle is powered on, it is advisable to charge the Tesla Model 3 using a home charger or a Supercharger station to ensure the battery is fully charged.
