Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Locate the Leak
  • Inspect the brake fluid reservoir and surrounding components for fluid seepage.
  • If the reservoir is low, fill it with the appropriate brake fluid (DOT 3, DOT 4, or manufacturer-specified type).
3. Repair or Replace Affected Components

A. Brake Line Repair

  • If a brake line is damaged:
    1. Use a line wrench to disconnect the damaged section from the fittings.
    2. Cut the line to remove the damaged section.
    3. Install a new brake line using the appropriate fittings and torque specifications.
    4. Bleed the brake system to remove air.

B. Brake Caliper Replacement

  • If the caliper is leaking:
    1. Raise the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
    2. Remove the wheel to access the brake caliper.
    3. Disconnect the brake line from the caliper with a line wrench.
    4. Remove the caliper mounting bolts and slide the caliper off the rotor.
    5. Install the new caliper, reconnect the brake line, and torque the bolts to specification.
    6. Bleed the brake system.

C. Master Cylinder Replacement

  • If the master cylinder is leaking:
    1. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues.
    2. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and drain fluid.
    3. Disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder.
    4. Unbolt the master cylinder from the brake booster.
    5. Install the new master cylinder and torque to specification.
    6. Reconnect the brake lines and bleed the brake system.
