Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and equipment.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe location with sufficient space around it.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Inspect and Clean Battery Terminals
  • Open the hood and locate the 12V battery.
  • Inspect the battery terminals for corrosion (white or greenish powder).
  • If corrosion is present, disconnect the negative terminal first followed by the positive terminal.
  • Clean the terminals using a wire brush and a mixture of baking soda and water.
  • Reconnect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal, ensuring a secure connection.
3. Jump-Start the Vehicle
  • Position another vehicle with a charged battery close enough to reach with jumper cables.
  • Connect the jumper cables:
    • Red cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery, then to the positive terminal of the charged battery.
    • Black cable to the negative terminal of the charged battery, then to an unpainted metal surface on the vehicle with the dead battery.
  • Start the vehicle with the charged battery and let it run for a few minutes.
  • Attempt to start the Tesla Outback.
4. Replace the Battery (if necessary)
  • If the vehicle does not start after the jump, consider replacing the 12V battery.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal, then the positive terminal from the old battery.
  • Remove any mounting hardware and lift the old battery out.
  • Place the new battery in the same position and reconnect the positive terminal first followed by the negative terminal.
  • Ensure all connections are tight.
