Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, torque wrench, and basic hand tools.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the reservoir cap and check the fluid level; top off with the recommended fluid type if low.
  • If the fluid is dirty or contaminated, drain the old fluid and replace it with new fluid. Bleed the system to remove air pockets.
3. Replace Electric Power Steering Motor (if faulty)
  • Lift the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the power steering motor.
  • Remove the mounting bolts securing the power steering motor using a socket set.
  • Carefully pull out the old motor from the steering rack.
  • Install the new power steering motor by reversing the removal steps. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (consult the service manual for torque values).
4. Reconnect Battery and Test System
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn on the ignition, allowing the system to power up, and check for any warning lights.
  • Test the steering operation by turning the wheel while stationary and in motion.
