Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check and Replace Transmission Fluid
  1. Locate the Transmission Dipstick:
    • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
  2. Check Fluid Level:
    • Insert the dipstick back into the tube and remove it again to check the fluid level.
    • If low, add the manufacturer-recommended transmission fluid.
  3. Inspect Fluid Condition:
    • If the fluid is dark or has a burnt smell, it should be replaced.
3. Replace Transmission Filter
  1. Remove Transmission Pan:
    • Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
    • Remove the bolts securing the pan and gently pry it off.
  2. Replace Filter:
    • Remove the old transmission filter and install a new filter.
  3. Reinstall Pan:
    • Clean the gasket surface and install a new gasket. Reattach the pan with the specified torque.
4. Repair or Replace Transmission Solenoids
  1. Access Transmission Solenoids:
    • Remove the transmission pan as previously described.
  2. Disconnect Electrical Connectors:
    • Carefully unplug the solenoid connectors.
  3. Remove and Replace Solenoids:
    • Remove the bolts securing the solenoids and replace them with new ones.
  4. Reconnect Wiring:
    • Reattach the electrical connectors to the new solenoids.
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  1. Reattach Dipstick:
    • Reinsert the dipstick after ensuring all components are secured.
  2. Refill Transmission:
    • Using a funnel, add the correct type and amount of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
  3. Check Fluid Level Again:
    • Start the engine and let it warm up, then check the fluid level again and adjust as necessary.
