Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety during repairs.
  • Allow the engine to cool if it has been running.
2. Drain Transmission Fluid
  • Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully lower the pan and allow the fluid to drain completely.
3. Remove Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid
  • Locate the torque converter clutch solenoid on the transmission assembly.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid.
  • Remove the mounting bolts from the solenoid using a socket and ratchet.
  • Carefully pull the solenoid out of its housing.
4. Install New Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid
  • Apply a small amount of transmission fluid to the O-ring of the new solenoid.
  • Insert the new solenoid into its housing and tighten the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector to the solenoid.
5. Reassemble and Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Reinstall the transmission pan and tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern to avoid warping.
  • Refill the transmission with the appropriate type and quantity of fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
6. Reset the OBD-II System
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Use an OBD-II scanner to clear the P0740 code and any other stored codes.
  • Perform a final check of the transmission fluid level and top off if necessary.
