Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, stethoscope, torque wrench.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and ensure the vehicle is cool.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and place jack stands securely under the frame.
  • Remove the wheel using a lug wrench.
3. Remove the Brake Assembly
  • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set and hang the caliper securely (do not let it dangle).
  • Detach the brake rotor by removing any retaining screws.
4. Inspect and Replace Wheel Bearing
  • Check Bearing Condition: Spin the hub and listen for roughness. If noise or play is present, proceed to replace.
  • Remove Hub Assembly: Use a socket to remove hub assembly bolts. Use a hub puller if necessary.
  • Install New Bearing: Place the new wheel bearing into the hub. Ensure proper alignment and use a bearing press if needed.
  • Reassemble Hub and Brake Components: Reinstall the hub assembly and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications. Reattach the brake rotor and caliper.
5. Reinstall Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
6. Test Drive
  • Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure the noise has been eliminated.
