Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to prevent any electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
2. Inspect and Replace Fog Light Bulbs
  • Remove the fog light assembly from the bumper:
    • Use a socket set to remove the screws or fasteners holding the assembly in place.
    • Carefully pull the assembly out of the bumper.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the fog light.
  • Remove the old bulb by twisting it counterclockwise and pulling it out.
  • Install the new bulb by inserting it into the socket and twisting it clockwise until secure.
  • Reconnect the wiring harness and reposition the fog light assembly.
  • Secure the assembly back into the bumper with the screws.
3. Check and Replace the Fog Light Relay
  • Locate the fog light relay in the fuse box, typically found under the dashboard or in the engine compartment.
  • Remove the relay by gently pulling it straight out.
  • Inspect the relay for any physical damage.
  • Replace the relay with a new one if necessary, ensuring it is the correct type for the fog lights.
4. Repair or Replace Wiring (if applicable)
  • If damaged wiring is found during inspection:
    • Cut away the damaged section of the wire.
    • Strip the ends of the remaining wire and connect them using butt connectors or solder.
    • Insulate the connections with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing to prevent shorts.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the vehicle battery.
  • Turn on the fog light switch and verify that the fog lights illuminate.
