Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, brake pad spreader, torque wrench, and safety goggles.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the vehicle’s battery to ensure safety.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which brake pads need replacement.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the brake assembly.
4. Remove Old Brake Pads
  • Locate the caliper mounting bolts and remove them using the appropriate socket.
  • Gently slide the caliper off the rotor and suspend it using a bungee cord (do not let it hang by the brake line).
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
5. Install New Brake Pads
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new brake pads to reduce noise.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they fit snugly.
  • Reposition the caliper over the new pads and secure it by re-tightening the caliper mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • Reattach the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern.
  • Reconnect the battery and perform a test of the brake system by applying the brakes gently to ensure proper installation.
