Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Drain pan
    • Funnel
    • Hose clamps
  • Parts Required:
    • New coolant (as per specifications)
  • Safety Warning: Allow the engine to cool completely before beginning any work on the cooling system.
2. Drain the Old Coolant
  1. Position the drain pan under the radiator drain plug.
  2. Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
  3. Using a socket, carefully loosen and remove the drain plug.
  4. Allow the old coolant to fully drain into the pan.
  5. Replace the drain plug once the coolant has completely drained.
3. Flush the Radiator
  1. Connect a garden hose to the radiator filler neck using a funnel.
  2. Open the radiator cap and run clean water through the radiator until the water runs clear.
  3. Allow the water to drain completely, repeating the process as necessary to ensure all contaminants are removed.
4. Refill with New Coolant
  1. Remove the funnel and ensure the drain plug is securely fastened.
  2. Using a funnel, pour the new coolant into the radiator until it reaches the specified level.
  3. Fill the coolant reservoir to the recommended level.
5. Bleed the Cooling System
  1. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  2. Turn the heater to the maximum setting to allow coolant to flow into the heater core.
  3. Monitor the coolant level and add more if necessary while the engine is running, to prevent air pockets.
  4. Check for any leaks around the drain plug and hoses.
