Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves for protection.
2. Lift Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which shock absorber is being replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Remove Old Shock Absorber
  • Remove the wheel corresponding to the shock absorber being replaced using a socket set.
  • Locate the upper and lower mounting bolts of the shock absorber.
  • Use a wrench to remove the upper mounting bolt and then the lower bolt.
  • Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mount.
4. Install New Shock Absorber
  • Position the new shock absorber in the same orientation as the old one.
  • Insert the lower mounting bolt and tighten to the manufacturer’s specified torque (consult repair manual for torque specifications).
  • Install the upper mounting bolt and tighten it securely.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the wheel and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands using the hydraulic jack.
6. Test Installation
  • Once the vehicle is lowered, perform a bounce test again to check the stability.
  • Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure proper handling and comfort.
