Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • OBD-II scanner
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Fuel pressure gauge
  • Multimeter
  • Cleaning supplies (brake cleaner, rags)
2. Replace Spark Plugs
  1. Remove Engine Cover: If applicable, unbolt and remove the engine cover to gain access to spark plugs.
  2. Disconnect Ignition Coils: Unplug the ignition coils from the spark plugs.
  3. Remove Spark Plugs: Use a spark plug socket to carefully unscrew and remove the old spark plugs.
  4. Install New Spark Plugs: Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of new spark plugs and hand-tighten them into place. Use a torque wrench to tighten to manufacturer specifications (typically around 13-15 ft-lbs).
  5. Reattach Ignition Coils: Plug the ignition coils back in and ensure they are seated properly.
3. Clean Throttle Body
  1. Remove Throttle Body: Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector, vacuum hoses, and any mounting bolts. Carefully remove the throttle body.
  2. Clean Surfaces: Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to remove carbon deposits from the throttle body and the intake manifold.
  3. Reinstall Throttle Body: Reattach the throttle body using the bolts and reconnect all hoses and electrical connectors.
4. Inspect and Clean Fuel Injectors
  1. Remove Injectors: Disconnect the fuel rail and carefully pull out the fuel injectors. Ensure you have a container to catch any fuel drips.
  2. Clean Injectors: Use a fuel injector cleaning kit or take the injectors to a professional for ultrasonic cleaning.
  3. Reinstall Injectors: Apply new O-rings to the injectors if necessary and reinstall them into the fuel rail, ensuring they are properly seated.
