Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket wrench, protective gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked safely with the engine turned off.
2. Disconnect Battery
  • Using the socket wrench, locate the negative (black) battery terminal.
  • Loosen the nut securing the negative terminal and carefully remove it from the battery post.
  • Make sure the terminal does not touch the battery during the reset period to avoid accidental contact.
3. Wait for Reset
  • Allow the vehicle's electronics to completely discharge by waiting for at least 10 minutes.
  • This time allows the TCM to reset completely.
4. Reconnect Battery
  • Position the negative battery terminal back onto the battery post.
  • Tighten the nut securely with the socket wrench to ensure a good connection.
  • Ensure that the terminal is not loose or at risk of coming off.
5. Relearn TCM
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
  • Shift the transmission through all gears (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive) to allow the TCM to relearn its parameters.
  • Drive the vehicle gently for about 10-15 minutes to allow the TCM to adapt to the driving conditions.
