Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use wheel chocks to prevent movement.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Strut spring compressor
  • Pliers
  • Screwdrivers
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front or rear wheel where the strut is leaking.
  • Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel completely.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Disconnect any brake lines or sensors attached to the strut.
  • Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket.
  • Unbolt the upper strut mount from the vehicle (usually located in the engine bay or trunk) and remove the strut assembly.
4. Disassemble the Strut
  • Place the strut assembly in a strut spring compressor to safely compress the coil spring.
  • Once compressed, remove the top nut of the strut mount with a socket.
  • Carefully release the spring tension and remove the spring from the strut.
5. Replace the Strut
  • Install the new strut in the reverse order of disassembly.
  • Place the coil spring onto the new strut and ensure proper alignment.
  • Reinstall the top mount and torque the nut to the manufacturer’s specifications.
6. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  • Position the strut assembly back into the vehicle.
  • Reattach the bolts to the steering knuckle and torque them to specified values.
  • Reconnect any brake lines or sensors removed earlier.
7. Reattach the Wheel and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to the manufacturer's specifications.
