Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather required tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting work.
2. Remove Dashboard Components
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set, trim removal tools
  • Remove screws from the dashboard panels around the center console.
  • Carefully detach any clips and connectors from the dashboard.
  • Remove the dashboard assembly to gain access to the heater core.
3. Drain Coolant
  • Tools Required: Coolant catch pan, socket set
  • Locate the lower radiator hose connected to the heater core.
  • Place a coolant catch pan underneath and disconnect the hose.
  • Allow the coolant to drain completely from the system.
4. Remove Heater Core
  • Locate the heater core housing, usually positioned near the firewall.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set
  • Remove the screws or bolts securing the heater core housing in place.
  • Carefully disconnect the heater core from the hoses and remove it from the vehicle.
5. Inspect and Replace Heater Core
  • Inspect the heater core for signs of leaks or damage.
  • If damaged, replace with a new heater core, ensuring it matches OEM specifications.
  • Reinstall the heater core into the housing, securing it with screws/bolts.
6. Reassemble Dashboard
  • Reverse the removal steps to reattach the dashboard components.
  • Ensure all electrical connectors and clips are securely fastened.
7. Refill Coolant and Test
  • Reconnect the lower radiator hose and refill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant.
  • Bleed the system of any air pockets.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
