Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Start the engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature.
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
2. Locate and Remove Dipstick
  • Open the hood and secure it with the prop rod.
  • Locate the transmission dipstick (typically marked with a color-coded handle).
  • Carefully pull the dipstick out of the tube.
3. Check Fluid Level
  • Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the dipstick back into the tube fully.
  • Remove the dipstick again and observe the fluid level marked on the dipstick.
  • Fluid should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks.
4. Assess Fluid Condition
  • Inspect the fluid color: it should be a clear red/pink; dark or brown fluid indicates contamination.
  • Smell the fluid for any burnt odor, which signifies overheating.
  • If the fluid is low or degraded, proceed to add fluid or consider a fluid change.
5. Add Transmission Fluid (if necessary)
  • If the fluid is low, use a funnel to add the appropriate transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
  • Add fluid gradually and recheck the level until it reaches the proper range.
