Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secured with wheel chocks.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Pry bar
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the jack stands are stable before getting under the vehicle.
3. Remove the Driveshaft
  • Use the socket set to remove the bolts securing the driveshaft to the differential and the transmission.
  • Carefully slide the driveshaft out from the U-joint. Note the orientation for reinstallation.
4. Inspect and Replace U-joint
  • Inspect the U-joint for any signs of wear or damage. If necessary, use a pry bar to help remove the U-joint from the yoke.
  • If replacing, press the old U-joint out and press the new U-joint into place, ensuring it is aligned properly.
5. Reinstall the Driveshaft
  • Align the driveshaft back into position, ensuring it is properly oriented as noted during removal.
  • Reinstall the bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
