Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, funnel, power steering fluid, clean cloths
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical components, allow the engine to cool before opening the reservoir.
2. Fill Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Using a funnel, fill the reservoir with the manufacturer-recommended power steering fluid to the correct level.
3. Start Engine and Turn Steering
  • Start the engine and let it idle.
  • Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock (full left to full right) several times. This action will help to circulate the fluid and push trapped air out of the system.
  • Monitor the fluid level and add more fluid if necessary to maintain the correct level.
4. Bleed the System
  • With the engine running, continue to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock for approximately 10-15 seconds.
  • Check the reservoir frequently and top off the fluid as needed to prevent it from running dry.
5. Check for Air Bubbles
  • After several turns, stop the engine and inspect the fluid in the reservoir for air bubbles or foam.
  • If bubbles are present, repeat the previous step until the fluid appears clear and free of air.
6. Final Check
  • Securely close the reservoir cap once bleeding is complete.
  • Start the engine again and perform a final check of the fluid level, topping off if necessary.
