Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Valve Seal Replacement
  1. Remove Engine Cover

    • Use a socket set to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
    • Carefully lift off the cover and set it aside.
  2. Access Valve Springs

    • Remove the intake manifold if necessary to access the cylinder head.
    • Disconnect any sensors or hoses obstructing access.
  3. Remove Valve Springs

    • Use a valve spring compressor to carefully compress the springs.
    • Remove the keepers and spring, and take out the old valve seals.
  4. Install New Valve Seals

    • Lubricate the new valve seals with engine oil.
    • Install new seals onto the valve guides.
  5. Reassemble Components

    • Reinstall the valve springs and keepers using the compressor.
    • Reattach the intake manifold and engine cover.
3. Piston Ring Replacement
  1. Remove Cylinder Head

    • Follow steps similar to accessing valve springs to remove the cylinder head.
    • Drain engine coolant and oil before disassembly.
  2. Remove Pistons

    • Rotate the crankshaft to position pistons at the bottom of the stroke.
    • Remove the connecting rod bolts and carefully extract pistons.
  3. Replace Piston Rings

    • Use a piston ring expander to remove the old rings.
    • Clean the piston grooves and install new rings.
  4. Reassemble Engine

    • Reinsert pistons and connect them to the crankshaft.
    • Reinstall the cylinder head with new gaskets, torqueing to specification.
