why does my Skoda Octavia's temperature gauge keep fluctuating?

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools and parts needed for repair.
• Ensure the engine is cool before starting work.
• Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

2. Replace Temperature Sensor

1. Locate the temperature sensor (usually near the thermostat housing).
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
3. Unscrew the temperature sensor using a socket or wrench.
4. Apply thread sealant to the new sensor and install it in reverse order.
5. Reconnect the electrical connector.

3. Replace Thermostat (if faulty)

1. Drain coolant from the radiator using a drain pan.
2. Remove the upper radiator hose connected to the thermostat housing.
3. Unscrew the thermostat housing bolts and carefully remove the housing.
4. Take out the old thermostat and replace it with a new one.
5. Reinstall the thermostat housing and reconnect the upper radiator hose.
