why does my Skoda Octavia's steering feel heavy

• Gather tools: socket set, fluid catch pan, power steering fluid, multimeter, pressure gauge.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
• Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.

2. Check and Top Off Power Steering Fluid

• Locate the power steering fluid reservoir under the hood.
• Remove the cap and check the fluid level; add fluid if low.
• Inspect the fluid for contamination; if dirty, proceed to flush the system.

3. Inspect for Leaks

• Use a flashlight to visually inspect power steering hoses and connections.
• If leaks are found, replace the damaged hoses or fittings as necessary.

4. Replace Power Steering Pump (if faulty)

• Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner.
• Disconnect the power steering pump from the mounting bracket.
• Remove the pump’s fluid lines with a socket set and catch fluid in a pan.
• Install the new pump, reconnect the lines, and ensure they are tight.
