Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure vehicle is parked on a flat surface and securely lift the vehicle using jack stands.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the wheel nuts.
  • Remove the wheel from the hub.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspection:
    • Visually inspect brake pads for thickness; replace if less than 3mm.
    • Check for uneven wear patterns.
  • Replacement:
    • Remove caliper bolts using a socket set.
    • Slide the caliper off the rotor and suspend it using a bungee cord (do not let it hang by the brake line).
    • Remove old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    • Install new brake pads in the caliper bracket.
    • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and tighten caliper bolts to manufacturer’s torque specifications.
4. Inspect and Resurface/Replace Brake Rotors
  • If rotors are scored or uneven, they should be resurfaced or replaced.
  • Remove rotor retaining screws (if applicable) and slide rotor off the hub.
  • If resurfacing, follow machine shop procedures; if replacing, install new rotor.
  • Apply anti-seize lubricant to the hub surface before installing new rotor.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and fully tighten lug nuts to manufacturer specifications using a torque wrench.
  • Reconnect the battery.
