Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket, ratchet, torque wrench, dielectric grease, compressed air (optional).
  • Parts Required: New spark plugs (if replacement needed).
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Locate the bolts or clips securing the engine cover.
  • Use the appropriate socket or tool to remove them.
  • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Spark Plug Wires or Coils
  • If equipped with coils, disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils and gently pull them out.
  • If using spark plug wires, carefully pull the boots off the spark plugs.
4. Remove Spark Plugs
  • Using a spark plug socket and ratchet, carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Avoid dropping debris into the cylinder by using compressed air to blow out any dust around the spark plug area.
5. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs
  • Inspect the removed spark plugs for wear. Look for:
    • Normal wear (light brown color, no excessive buildup)
    • Carbon fouling (black soot)
    • Overheating (blistered or white insulator)
  • If replacement is necessary, ensure the gap is set according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs for ease of installation.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Carefully screw in the new spark plugs by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use the torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer-specified torque (usually around 25 Nm for most spark plugs, check the service manual for exact specifications).
  • Reinstall the ignition coils or spark plug wires, ensuring proper connection.
7. Reattach Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the bolts or clips previously removed.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
