what causes my Renault Clio V (2019-Present) brakes to squeak?

1. Preparation

• Gather necessary tools and parts.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
• Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.

2. Remove Wheel

• Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
• Remove the lug nuts using a socket set and take off the wheel to access the brake components.

3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads

• Inspect Brake Pads:

  • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake pads and hang it using a bungee cord to avoid strain on the brake line.
  • Check the thickness of the pads; if less than 3mm, they should be replaced.

• Replace Brake Pads:

  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to reduce noise.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket and reattach the caliper over the pads. Torque caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications (usually around 25-30 Nm).

4. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
