Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety.
2. Check Coolant Level
  • Open the coolant reservoir cap carefully.
  • If low, add the manufacturer's recommended coolant mixture to the proper level.
3. Replace Thermostat (if faulty)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper.
  • Drain coolant from the radiator until below the thermostat level.
  • Disconnect the thermostat housing bolts and remove the housing.
  • Remove the old thermostat and clean the mating surfaces.
  • Install the new thermostat ensuring it is oriented correctly.
  • Reattach the thermostat housing and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Refill the cooling system with coolant.
4. Bleed the Cooling System
  • With the radiator cap off, start the engine and let it reach operating temperature.
  • Monitor the coolant level and add coolant as necessary.
  • Squeeze the upper radiator hose to help release air pockets.
  • Once air bubbles stop appearing, replace the radiator cap.
5. Inspect and Clean Heater Core
  • Remove the dashboard trim to access the heater core.
  • Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses from the heater core.
  • Flush the heater core with a garden hose to remove any blockages.
  • Reconnect hoses and ensure there are no leaks.
