Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, torque wrench, brake cleaner, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Raise the vehicle using the jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel using the lug wrench.
2. Remove Brake Pads
  • Remove the caliper bolts using the appropriate socket.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor without stressing the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
3. Inspect and Replace Components
  • Brake Pads:
    • Check the thickness; if less than 3mm, replace with new pads.
    • Apply brake grease to the back of new pads.
  • Brake Rotors:
    • Inspect for scoring or warping; if damaged, replace with new rotors.
    • Clean the rotor surface with brake cleaner and a cloth.
4. Reassemble Brake Components
  • Slide the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  • Position the caliper over the new pads and rotor.
  • Tighten the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications using a torque wrench.
5. Reinstall Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque.
6. Test Brakes
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the pads.
  • Conduct a test drive to ensure proper function and listen for any further noises.
