Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat, stable surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, placing jack stands under the vehicle for safety.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is securely supported before beginning any work.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to gain access to the strut assembly.
4. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Loosen and remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket wrench.
  • Remove the upper strut mount nuts from the engine bay or under the rear seat (depending on the strut location) using a socket.
  • Carefully take out the strut assembly from its position, ensuring to not damage any surrounding components.
5. Inspect and Replace
  • Inspect the strut for any signs of damage or wear.
  • If replacement is necessary, install the new strut by reversing the removal steps.
  • Torque the strut mount nuts and steering knuckle bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually found in the repair manual).
6. Reinstall the Wheel and Lower the Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Ensure that all tools are removed from the work area.
