Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Locate the Leak
  • Remove the engine cover (if applicable) to access the master cylinder.
  • Inspect the master cylinder for cracks or damage; replace if needed.
  • Check brake lines and hoses leading from the master cylinder to the wheels.
3. Repair or Replace Defective Components
  • For damaged brake lines:

    • Use a line wrench to disconnect the damaged section.
    • Cut and replace with new brake line tubing, flaring the ends as necessary.
    • Reconnect using appropriate fittings and ensure tightness.
  • For a leaky master cylinder:

    • Remove the retaining bolts using a socket set.
    • Disconnect brake lines and electrical connectors.
    • Install the new master cylinder, reconnect lines and connectors, and torque to manufacturer specifications.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Open the bleeder valve on each brake caliper, starting with the furthest from the master cylinder.
  • Use a brake bleeder tool or have an assistant pump the brake pedal to expel air until fluid runs clear.
  • Close the bleeder valve and repeat for each caliper.
  • Check and top off brake fluid in the reservoir.
