Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use wheel chocks to prevent movement.
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, brake cleaner, torque wrench, socket set.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen lug nuts slightly while the wheel is still on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect Pads: Check the thickness of the brake pads; replace if less than 3mm.
  • Removal: Remove caliper bolts using the socket set. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it without straining the brake line.
  • Replace Pads: Remove the old pads and install new pads, ensuring the clips are properly seated. Apply brake grease to the backing of the pads to prevent squeaking.
4. Inspect and Resurface/Replace Rotors
  • Inspect Rotors: Check for any scoring or warping; replace if necessary. If suitable, consider resurfacing.
  • Removal: If replacing or resurfacing, remove the rotor from the hub by removing the retaining screws or caliper bracket if applicable.
  • Installation: Reinstall the rotor (or new rotor) and secure it with the appropriate fasteners.
5. Reassemble and Torque
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and torque the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
