Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, pry bar, inspection mirror, and possibly a stethoscope for noise diagnosis.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely supported before working underneath.
2. Replace Worn Shocks/Struts
  1. Raise the Vehicle: Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  2. Remove the Wheel: Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel for access to the suspension components.
  3. Disconnect Shock/Strut: Remove the bolts connecting the shock or strut to the lower control arm and top mount. Use a pry bar if necessary to help free the component.
  4. Install New Shock/Strut: Position the new shock or strut in place and secure it with the bolts. Torque to manufacturer's specifications.
  5. Reinstall Wheel: Put the wheel back on and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
3. Replace Worn Bushings
  1. Inspect Bushings: Identify any worn or damaged bushings in the control arms or sway bar.
  2. Remove Control Arm: If necessary, detach the control arm from the vehicle by removing the bolts that secure it to the chassis and the wheel hub.
  3. Press Out Old Bushings: Use a bushing removal tool to press out the old bushings from the control arm.
  4. Install New Bushings: Press in the new bushings ensuring they are seated properly.
  5. Reinstall Control Arm: Reattach the control arm to the vehicle and torque all bolts to specification.
