Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Safety: Wear gloves and safety glasses.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which strut is leaking.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Front Strut:
    1. Remove the wheel using a lug wrench.
    2. Detach the brake line bracket from the strut.
    3. Unbolt the strut from the steering knuckle and lower control arm.
    4. Remove the top strut mounting nuts in the engine bay.
  • Rear Strut:
    1. Remove the wheel.
    2. Unbolt the lower strut mount.
    3. Remove the upper strut mounting nuts from the trunk.
4. Inspect and Replace
  • Inspect the strut assembly for damage.
  • If leaking, replace the strut with a new or remanufactured strut.
    • Use a strut spring compressor to safely remove the spring from the old strut, if necessary.
    • Reassemble the new strut with the original spring and mount.
5. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  • Reinstall the strut assembly in reverse order of removal.
  • Ensure all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications (consult repair manual for specifics).
  • Reattach the brake line and any other components removed.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reinstall the wheels and tighten lug nuts to the specified torque.
7. Final Check
  • Inspect for any leaks around the new strut.
  • Check the alignment is correct after replacing struts; perform alignment if needed.
