  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning work to prevent electrical shock.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove any bolts securing the engine cover using a socket wrench.
    2. Carefully lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Ignition Coil
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the ignition coil on the engine, typically mounted on top of the engine block.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling it off.
4. Remove Ignition Coil
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using a socket wrench.
    2. Carefully pull the ignition coil straight out of the spark plug well.
5. Install New Ignition Coil
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the rubber boot of the new ignition coil (optional).
    2. Insert the new ignition coil into the spark plug well until fully seated.
    3. Secure the ignition coil with the bolt(s) and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification (typically around 7-10 ft-lbs).
6. Reconnect Electrical Connector
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Plug the electrical connector back into the ignition coil until it clicks into place.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the bolts removed earlier.
