Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to prevent burns.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, dielectric grease, and a gapping tool.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Using a socket wrench, remove the bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coil assembly on top of the engine.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling the connector off.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a socket wrench.
4. Remove Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and extension to carefully unscrew each spark plug.
  • Turn counterclockwise to remove the plugs from the cylinder head.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a gapping tool, adjusting as necessary to meet manufacturer specifications (typically around 0.044 inches for Honda).
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound on the threads of the new spark plugs (optional).
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand, then tighten with a torque wrench to the manufacturer's specified torque (usually around 13 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Reinstall each ignition coil over the new spark plugs, securing them with bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil until they click into place.
7. Reattach Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the previously removed bolts.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
