Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials required for the inspection and potential replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted with jack stands.
2. Inspect Strut Assembly
  • Tools Required: Flashlight, cleaning cloth
  • Wipe the strut assembly with a cleaning cloth to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Use the flashlight to look for oil or fluid around the strut seals and body.
3. Perform Strut Replacement (if leaking is confirmed)

3.1 Remove Wheel

  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench
  • Loosen lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground, then raise the vehicle and secure with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.

3.2 Remove Strut Assembly

  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench
  • Disconnect the sway bar link from the strut if applicable.
  • Remove the lower strut bolts using the socket set.
  • Remove the upper mounting bolts in the engine bay or under the dashboard, depending on the model.
  • Carefully extract the strut assembly from the vehicle.

3.3 Install New Strut

  • Tools Required: Torque wrench
  • Place the new strut into position and secure it with the upper mounting bolts. Torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reattach the lower strut bolts and torque them to specifications.
  • Reconnect the sway bar link.

3.4 Reinstall Wheel

  • Tools Required: Lug wrench
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from jack stands and use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to manufacturer specifications.
