Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the engine off and cooled down.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Remove Ignition Coil
  1. Locate the ignition coil (generally on top of the engine, near the spark plugs).
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  3. Remove the bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using a socket set.
  4. Gently pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well.
3. Inspect and Replace
  1. Inspect the ignition coil for any visible damage.
  2. If needed, replace the ignition coil with a new one, ensuring it is the correct part for the 2016-2022 Honda Pilot YF3.
  3. Apply dielectric grease to the end of the ignition coil to prevent moisture intrusion.
  4. Reinsert the ignition coil into the spark plug well and secure it with the bolt(s).
4. Reconnect Electrical Connector
  1. Reconnect the electrical connector to the ignition coil until it clicks into place.
  2. Ensure all connections are secure and there are no loose wires.
5. Final Checks
  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Start the engine and check for any warning lights on the dashboard.
