Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts for the shock replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and support it with jack stands.
2. Remove the Old Shocks
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet, torque wrench, penetrating oil.
  • Locate the mounting bolts for the top and bottom of the shock absorber.
  • Apply penetrating oil to the bolts if they are rusted.
  • Using a socket set, remove the bolts securing the bottom of the shock to the axle and the top bolt from the shock tower.
  • Carefully pull the old shock out of its mounting position.
3. Install New Shocks
  • Tools Required: Same as before.
  • Position the new shock absorber into the mounting location.
  • Insert the top bolt and hand-tighten it to secure the shock in place.
  • Move to the bottom of the shock and install the bolts, ensuring they are tightened to the manufacturer’s specified torque settings.
  • Ensure the shocks are oriented correctly for proper installation.
4. Final Checks
  • Recheck all bolts for tightness.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the wheel chocks.
  • Conduct a bounce test to ensure the new shocks are functioning correctly.
