Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle's battery to avoid any electrical issues during repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked in a well-ventilated area.
2. Remove Cabin Air Filter
  • Locate the cabin air filter housing, typically found behind the glove compartment.
  • Use a screwdriver to remove any screws securing the housing.
  • Gently pull the housing apart and remove the old cabin air filter.
  • Inspect for mold or debris in the filter housing.
3. Clean the Filter Housing
  • Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any debris from the filter housing.
  • Wipe the inside of the housing with a damp cloth and a mild detergent to remove any mold residue.
  • Allow the housing to dry completely before reinstallation.
4. Install New Cabin Air Filter
  • Insert a new cabin air filter, ensuring it is oriented correctly (follow airflow direction indicated on the filter).
  • Reattach the filter housing and secure with screws.
5. Address Moisture Issues
  • Inspect and clear any blockages in the air conditioning drain tube to prevent water accumulation.
  • Use a mold remover spray in the air conditioning vents and inside the cabin to eliminate any remaining mold spores.
  • Run the air conditioning system on high for 10 minutes with the windows open to help dry out the system.
