Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely raise the front end using jack stands.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Remove the Old Power Steering Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, fluid catch pan, power steering pulley puller (if necessary).
  • Place a fluid catch pan under the power steering pump to collect any leaking fluid.
  • Disconnect the high-pressure and low-pressure hoses from the pump using the appropriate wrench.
  • Remove any bolts securing the power steering pump to the engine bracket.
  • If equipped, use a power steering pulley puller to remove the pulley from the pump shaft.
  • Carefully lift the power steering pump out of the engine bay.
3. Install the New Power Steering Pump
  • Position the new power steering pump in place and secure it using the bolts removed earlier. Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 18-25 ft-lbs).
  • If applicable, install the power steering pulley onto the new pump using the pulley puller, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  • Reattach the high-pressure and low-pressure hoses, making sure to use new O-rings if necessary to prevent leaks. Tighten securely.
  • Refill the power steering fluid reservoir with the recommended fluid type (generally Honda PSF or equivalent).
4. Bleed the Power Steering System
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to help purge air from the system.
  • Check the fluid level in the reservoir and add more fluid if necessary.
  • Inspect for any leaks around the pump and hoses.
