Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, CVT belt replacement tool, jack and jack stands, drain pan, funnel, safety gloves, safety goggles.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the Honda Pilot and secure it with jack stands.
  • Place a drain pan under the transmission to catch any fluid that may spill during the process.
3. Remove the Transmission Cover
  • Use a socket set to remove the bolts securing the transmission cover.
  • Carefully lift off the cover to expose the CVT belt and internal components.
4. Drain the Transmission Fluid
  • Locate the transmission fluid drain plug and remove it using the socket set.
  • Allow the fluid to drain completely into the drain pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer's specified value (typically around 25-30 lb-ft).
5. Remove the Old CVT Belt
  • Using the CVT belt replacement tool, release tension from the belt.
  • Carefully remove the old belt from the pulleys, noting the routing for the new belt.
6. Install the New CVT Belt
  • Position the new CVT belt onto the pulleys, following the same routing as the old belt.
  • Ensure the belt is properly seated in the grooves of the pulleys.
7. Reassemble the Transmission
  • Replace the transmission cover and secure it with the bolts, ensuring they are torqued to the specified value.
  • Refill the transmission with the appropriate CVT fluid through the fill plug using a funnel.
8. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
