Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check Transmission Fluid
  • Remove the transmission dipstick and wipe it clean.
  • Reinsert and remove again to check the fluid level—add fluid if low using the manufacturer-recommended type (Honda ATF DW-1).
  • If the fluid is dirty, proceed to change it (see step 4).
3. Change Transmission Fluid
  • Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket set and carefully lower the pan to drain old fluid.
  • Replace the transmission filter if applicable.
  • Clean the pan and reinstall it with a new gasket (torque bolts to manufacturer specifications).
4. Inspect and Repair Components
  • If fluid leaks are found, replace damaged lines or seals.
  • Inspect the shift linkage and cables; adjust or replace as necessary.
  • If the TCM is faulty, replace it and reprogram as needed using a compatible scanner.
5. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the battery terminals securely.
  • Reset any stored error codes with the OBD-II scanner.
