Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Tools required: Socket set, Torque wrench, Screwdrivers, Fluid catch basin.
2. Check and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check fluid level. If low, top off with manufacturer-recommended fluid (Honda Power Steering Fluid).
  • If the fluid appears dark or contaminated, drain and replace it:
    • Place the fluid catch basin under the steering pump.
    • Disconnect the return line and let the old fluid drain.
    • Reconnect the return line and fill the reservoir with new fluid.
3. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • If the pump is suspected to be faulty:
    • Disconnect the battery.
    • Remove the serpentine belt from the power steering pump pulley.
    • Unbolt and remove the power steering pump from its mounting.
    • Install the new pump in reverse order and torque bolts to manufacturer's specifications.
4. Inspect and Replace Steering Rack (if necessary)
  • If steering rack damage is identified:
    • Disconnect the battery.
    • Remove the front wheels for better access.
    • Detach the steering column from the rack and remove the tie rod ends.
    • Unbolt the steering rack and remove it from the vehicle.
    • Install the new steering rack in reverse order, ensuring proper alignment and torque specifications.
5. Check and Align Tires
  • Inspect tires for uneven wear and replace if necessary.
  • Ensure proper tire inflation.
  • If needed, take the vehicle to a professional for a wheel alignment.
